How It Works
The AI operations assistant is a server-side service that aggregates your institutional data before sending it to Anthropic Claude for analysis.
Browser
Administrator sends a query through the EduLynx dashboard.

Request is authenticated and routed to the AI service.
AIOperationsService
Aggregates institutional data and constructs a context-aware prompt.
Anthropic API
Anthropic Claude processes the aggregated data and returns a response.
Key architectural detail
The AIOperationsService aggregates data at the class, section and institutional level before constructing the prompt. The AI receives summary statistics (counts, percentages, trends) — not individual student records. All processing is server-side and tenant-isolated.
Data Privacy
The AI feature is designed with privacy as a constraint, not an afterthought. Individual student data never leaves your server.
API Keys Server-Side Only
Anthropic API keys are stored as server-side environment variables. They are never exposed to the browser or included in client-side code.
No Student PII Sent to AI
The AI receives aggregated, anonymised data only. Individual student names, contact details and personal information are not sent to the Anthropic API.
Aggregate Data Only
All data sent to the AI is aggregated at the class, section or institutional level. The AI works with counts, percentages and trends, not individual records.
Tenant-Isolated Queries
Every AI query is scoped to the requesting institution. Multi-tenant isolation ensures one school's data is never accessible to another.
AI Limitations
Transparency about what the AI can and cannot do.
Read-only access — the AI cannot modify, create or delete any data in the system.
Aggregate data only — the AI cannot look up individual students by name or return individual-level PII.
Requires Anthropic API key configuration by the institution administrator.
Dependent on third-party API availability. Responses may be delayed or unavailable during Anthropic service interruptions.
AI responses are generated content and should be verified against actual data before taking action.
Availability
The AI operations assistant is available as part of the EduLynx ERP AI Enterprise plan. Institutions on the Standard plan can upgrade at any time.
When the AI feature is unavailable — due to missing API key configuration or third-party service disruption — the platform continues to operate normally. All core ERP functionality works independently of the AI feature. The AI assistant degrades gracefully and displays appropriate status messages.
